Volunteers for The Arc of the Piedmont will be spending Saturday, May 11, wandering o’er hill and dale in search of avian life in Albemarle County.  A handful of these volunteers will be doing double duty, not only counting birds for the local ornithological record but also as a fundraising effort for The Arc of the Piedmont. The goal is to identify at least 75 species.  Based on that, a $1 per species pledge would equate to a $75 donation to The Arc; 60 species would equate to $60, and so on.   You can contact him at 434-977-4002, ext. 136, or by email at
