Local Artists, Businesses and SPCA Partner
for Dogs and Cats Around Town Raffle
Charlottesville, Virginia: Have you seen the Dogs & Cats Around Town? Nineteen dog and
cat statues lovingly decorated by local artists are gracing the storefronts of seventeen local
retail locations, all to benefit the animals at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. Raffle tickets
to win these fabulous works of art are available for purchase from the retail location housing
each statue or also online at caspca.org. The creativity displayed in these statues ranges from
“Sirius,” a dog covered in locally sourced river stones, a cat named “Frida,” reminiscent of a
Diego Rivera painting, and even the appropriately named “Grisham K9 Editor,” adorned in an
original John Grisham manuscript.
Event organizer Cynthia Viejo says, “I am so excited to organize the first annual Dogs & Cats
Around Town raffle. This fundraiser brings together my three passions – supporting local
business, local artists and of course, the animals. The hope is to increase traffic at local
businesses and support local art--all while raising funds for the animals. It truly is a win-win
for everyone involved.”
Statues will remain in their respective local business locations until Saturday, September 8th,
when the winners will be drawn. To learn more about the artists and the inspiration for their
